Abstract
The Nigeria Biafra war letter is a soldier’s story, that soldier, Brig General Benjamin Adekunle was the most effective and Dynamic Nigerian commander to emerge from die civil war when he led his forces of the 3rd Marina commando Division as a 30 year old Colonel between 1967-69. He subsequently landed over command of his most cherished division to the current Nigeria President General Olusegun Obasanjo in May 1969 at the tail end of the war.
The Nigerian Biafra civil war tragic and brutal. a humanitarian and famine disaster which led to the deaths of 2 million Ibo. Brig. Adekunde’s correspondences to his Lagos overlords the head of state, Chiefs of Staff, and other senior military officials in General Gowon’s supreme Military council, General Hassan katsina , Brigadiers Ekpo. Adebayo and commander Dieted-Spiff to name a few.
These letters reveal his thinking during the war. They raise and contain very contentious simmering issue which remain divisive in Nigerian concerning abandon property, resources control , no victor no vanquished starvation as the legitimate of two war reconciliation remonstration and rehabilitation
