Abstract
Muhamman Dikko was an outstanding figure in Nigeria History. His life spanned two centuries and was closely linked to the great changes in what is now Nigeria. He was a kingmaker, a war commander and a great bridge builder. As Emir of Katsina for thirty seven years he brought radical changes to his emirate, becoming the most progress emir in Northern provinces, the first to visit England to perform Hajj by sea and by road to fly in a plane and opened school for girls. His emirate was the first to establish Native Treasury in Northern Provinces. He departmentalized the Native Authority into Education, Medical, Works Agriculture, Veterinary, Police and Prisons.
Yet with all these achievement nothing was named after him, except a minor town road in Katsina town.
