Abstract
The Military, The Media and Nigeria’s National Security seeks from historical perspective to redefine for the better, the relationship between media practitioners and the defence and security agencies in Nigeria. As a pacesetter, the book stands out as the first ever on the path it carved out for itself.
There had been occasions in the past when tension and soured relations dominated the cord of relationship between the media and the military, contributing Authors for this book have attributed this sad and avoidable situation for the absence of mutual respect and understanding between the two sides. In the circumstances, defence agents perceived the media practitioners as persons who driven by the age to sell their ware at all cost, often lose sight of the more important element of National Security in general, and the security and military personnel especially in combat situations in particular.
This book, while recognising the crucial roles of the military and the media, urges both to see themselves as patriots, partners in progress, and equal stakeholder over matters of national peace, security and defence. It therefore advocate for better relation between the two sides at all times for a peaceful, progressive, united, politically stable, economically strong and secured Nigeria.
It is a most read for all security personnel, media practitioners, researchers and the general public.
