Abstract
The NGO scene in Nigeria is dynamic and the number of NGOs in the country is exploding, with new ones emerging daily. This is a healthy development in an era when economic constraints have restricted the influence of government and limited its ability to meet the development needs of people at the grassroots.
Because the NGO movement is relatively new in Nigeria, there is need to ensure that the growing numbers of NGOs has a clear conceptual framework for thie activities and that they are oriented towards encouraging participatory and sustainable development.
This directory has identified over 200 projects/service-oriented NGOs operating in Nigeria that are potential partners for development. The NGO directory is an ongoing exercise and as new organizations are identified they will be reflected in subsequent editions.
