It is an honour for me to write a forward for this book title” Nigerian Army Responses to National Security: challenges and Perspectives” , it is a compilation of selected lectures delivered by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai at various prestigious institutions both local and international

The Book has given an insight into the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai which is “ To have a Professionally Responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge its Constitutional Roles” When he was appointed on 15- July- 2015, the Nigerian National Security was seriously challenged by the activities of Boko Haram Terrorists, Niger Delta Militants, Armed Bandits Kidnappers and Increasing menace of Herders Farmers Conflicts. The Nigerian Army Response to these security Challenges resulted in significant reduction and improved security Atmosphere in the Country. This is a feat that has Attracted National honours from the home and Abroad making Lt Gen TY Buratai an enigma and a subject of study.

Let me categorically say that the book which is a collection of selected lectures of the Chief of the Army Staff has clearly defined leadership role of Lieutenant Gen TY Buratai such a book will serve as a compass to the young officers in the Army forces in the security agencies

Similarly, the book has provided detail analysis and response to the Nigerian Army during the short period of this administration. It is very resourceful and capable educating both the military and civilian readers of the complexity of the Nigerian security environment. Scholar of security studies and military commander will find it very resourceful and reference materials.
