Abstract
Today, it is no longer news that the Northern States parade the highest number of ethno-religious crises in the country. In many of theses states, many things continue to fall apart, leaving the people less cohesive. The causes of these crises are as the people ethnicity, religious intolerance, corruption, bad leadership, bad followership, indigenes settlers dichotomy, among others in Jos North LGA of Plateau State, ethno-religious crises and violence have become common features in the body politics of the area. The LGA has become a theatre of ethno-religious violence and confrontations leading to the shedding of innocent blood and destruction of property. The constant crisis is rooted in the claim of ownership of Jos township between he Hausa settlers and the indigenous ethnic-group of Anaguta, Berom and Jarawa (Afizere).
Conflict being an inevitably part of human nature and in his relations with others, what then is the way forward, since growth, development and unity are values cherished by human race too. In order to avoid a recourse a violence, there is need for conflict management through the diplomatic strategies of negotiation, mediation, good offices conciliation, inquiry, arbitration and judicature. The study evaluate the efficacy of efforts at negotiation and mediation in resolving the Jos ethno-religious crises and recommended that for the peaceful means to yield desire results, the root cause of the problem must resolved, by implementing the recommendations of reports of various panels that addressed the issues of good governance, at all levels enhance security, reduce unemployment and poverty among the youths.
