Abstract
The global security challenges arising from proliferation of small arms light weapons, drug and human trafficking, money laundering, terrorism, cyber-crimes and maritime piracy, among other have shifted world threat paradigm from the conventional to asymmetric and multidimensional threat. Most of these threats do not conform to traditional nation-state definitions but rather transcend political boundaries and territorial limitations. These threats have thus reinforced the emphasis on collaboration, concerted and proactive approach, particularly effective intelligence gathering, coordination and sharing among relevant security and intelligence agencies for the purpose of enhancing national, regional and global security. This has therefore informed the topic of this research titled: "Intelligence Sharing and Regional Security in the Lake Chad Basin. The Regional Intelligence Fusion Unit in Focus" The study therefore examined the effect on intelligence sharing by Regional Intelligence Fusion Unit (RIFU) on regional Security in the Lake Chad Basin (LCB) region.
